Why have a sweat analysis done?

Cramps, performance loss or slow recovery can all result from improper hydration. Many athletes underestimate their fluid and salt loss during exercise. Thanks to our sweat analysis via MX3 sweat patches and the MX3 LAB system you finally get objective data about your:

  • Sweat flow rate (L/hour)
  • Sodium concentration in sweat (mg/L)
  • Total sodium loss per hour (mg/hour)
  • So together with our experts, you can create a personal drinking and salt plan, which you can easily apply during training or competitions.

Combine this test with a sweat and hydration analysis for complete insight into your body composition and fluid balance. Or couple it with an stress test to properly link your performance to your physical profile.

For whom is this sweat analysis useful?

Sweat analysis is particularly valuable for:

Even if you are recovering from an injury or returning to competition level, this analysis can help ensure a safer, faster rebuild. Also check out our pages onrehab testing and coaching for further follow-up.

How does a sweat analysis work?

Our approach is scientific but simple in design:

1. Intake & preparation.

You fill out a short questionnaire about your sport, environment, goals and any symptoms (such as cramps). Then together we determine the appropriate testing protocol (bike or treadmill).

During this test, you collect sweat via MX3 sweat patches in a controlled manner.

We accurately measure your sweat rate and sodium concentration. This gives us insight into your hourly sweat profile.

You will receive a clear report with:

  • Recommended drinking volume (ml/hour)
  • Required salt intake (mg/hour).
  • Concrete guidelines around sports drinks, salt capsules or nutrition
  • Advice tailored to your sport discipline, duration and climate
