PROF. DR. KRISTOFF CORTEN
Orthopedic Surgeon | Medical Board
Prof. Dr. Kristoff Corten is a member of P2A’s medical board. At P2A, he supports the clinical care of athletes and players, including in the areas of injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return to sport.
As an orthopedic surgeon in Westerlo, he brings specialized medical expertise to P2A’s multidisciplinary approach. This allows for better alignment between test results, physical data, and clinical insights.
In this way, his expertise helps not only to test athletes and teams objectively, but also to provide them with more medically sound guidance when additional clinical follow-up is needed.
Expertise
Prof. Dr. Kristoff Corten is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in muscle-sparing reconstructive surgery of the hip joint. He is a co-developer of the EDA anterior approach and One-Day-Hip, and is internationally recognized in his field.
At P2A, he supports the clinical monitoring of players and athletes. His expertise is particularly valuable when test data needs to be linked to symptoms, injury susceptibility, rehabilitation, or return to sport.
In this way, he helps ensure that physical data is interpreted correctly—not only from a sports perspective but also from a clinical one. As a result, players, medical staff, physical therapists, and coaches can make more informed decisions regarding training load, recovery, and returning to play.

Education
Prof. Dr. Kristoff Corten earned his medical degree from KU Leuven and then specialized in orthopedics. He subsequently furthered his expertise in hip surgery through international fellowships.
His training and clinical background form the foundation of his expertise in reconstructive hip surgery, muscle-sparing techniques, and patient-centered care. At P2A, he applies this medical knowledge to the clinical care of athletes and players.
